Lifetimes
by Judith Bakkensen
If I knew I was going to live to 107, I would have
taken better care of my teeth. Be careful what you wish for. I am
107 today. I have had a great life, mostly because I love old people.
I have spent the last 35 years with old people. And the robots, of
course. We each have our own robot to take care of all our needs.
I wish my robot, George, would do my exercises for me.
I live in a beautiful home on a golf course. All the golf
courses have been turned into old people storage it seems. It is a big
problem now that we are living so much longer. Where can we all live.
Oh, well, I have my patch of . . . . Sorry, I took a little nap. I am
speaking to my robot, George, and he is recording my thoughts. I am so
pleased to still have thoughts.
Anyway, if I knew I was going to live to 107, I would have made
my friends take better care of themselves. I miss them all. I make
new friends, of course. And there is my robot, you know, he sings
all my favorite songs. He is great company.
Well, I don't have much more to say. When I started, I
thought I would have a lot to say. But, my life is very good right now
and I am supposed to live to 125. So, goodbye, for now. So George,
what did I say? Read it back to me.
